Grandma called it Burned Butter Icing—we call it heaven
Only 4 ingredients:
* 1/4 cup butter (for donuts) or 1/2 cup (for cake)
* 2–4 cups powdered sugar (depends on batch size)
* 2–5 tbsp milk (adjust to get the consistency you want)
* 1/4 to 1/2 tsp vanilla
Just melt and brown (watch to make sure it isn’t burning on the bottom!) your butter (takes ~5 min), stir in powdered sugar, then beat in milk + vanilla until smooth.No candy thermometers. Just cozy caramel flavor in minutes.
Dip donuts.Frost cakes. Drizzle on cinnamon rolls. Or just eat it with a spoon like me!
Grandma used it on spice cake, but you can’t go wrong with anything fall-flavored. Save this one for when you want frosting that tastes like nostalgia.
