Take 5 minutes to prep this warm and inviting spiced cider and enjoy it all day long. It’s a great way to thaw out after a brisk Fall walk and make your house smell like the holidays! This drink comes together quickly and is so much better and prettier than store bought. The sliced oranges add a bit of sour and I like to have the fresh fruit especially because it’s so festive looking. The whole spices add some flavor but not as much as ground spices, so I add a bit of both. You can just add ground spices but sometimes there is a spice-sludge at the bottom of the pan…I’m just letting you know! Here’s the way I make it with the tasty additions my daughter uses.
Hot Spiced Cider
1/2 gallon apple cider or juice
2 small apples, sliced 1/2” thick through the center remove the seeds but the skin can stay
1 small orange or lemon cut in 1/2”slices
1/2 cup whole cranberries
1 two inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced 1/4 thick
5 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
A dash of allspice and cloves
Optional
1-2 tablespoons brown sugar

Simmer for 20-30 minutes and adjust the amount of sweetness or spice as desired. Enjoy! #fall
