10 minutes to prep and cook this delicious, gluten-free, and easy apple blackberry pie filling/ topping. Hot Apple Blackberry Pie Topping is the perfect topping for Greek Yogurt, oatmeal or granola. You can also just grab the bowl and start eating…maybe that’s just my bad habit!
Warm Apple Blackberry Pie Topping
Dry ingredients
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt
In a small bowl whisk together dry ingredients and set aside.
Filling
1 Honey Crisp apple, 1/4” slices
1 cup fresh blackberries or other berry
juice of 1/2 a medium lemon
Squeeze the lemon over the apple slices in a microwave safe bowl. Sprinkle dry mix over the top and stir well. Add blackberries and stir gently. Microwave for about 4 minutes total. Stir gently every minute until the apples are tender and the sauce is thickened. Microwave for about 4 minutes total. Be careful the bowl may be hot coming out of the microwave!
Using a wide glass, layer yogurt and topping. Start and end with the apple berry mixture. Top with a bit of fresh berries, chia seeds, granola or nuts as desired. Enjoy!
