Dark Chocolate Blood Orange Truffles

Hi Bakers,
Truffles sound fancy but, they're simple to make. Dark Chocolate Blood Orange Truffles are no exception. A quick heating and melting of ingredients with some chilling makes these easy to whip up and share during the holiday season. I use fresh orange zest and juice give these candies a subtle orange flavor but, you can add more zest for even more orange. Enjoy these creamy and rich chocolate treats ~Carolyn
Dark Chocolate Blood Orange Truffles
2/3 cup cream
1 1/2 cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons blood orange zest
2 tablespoons blood orange juice
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Heat the cream until hot but not boiling. Add the chocolate chips and butter. Cover and sit for about 5 minutes or until all the chocolate has melted. Stir until smooth. Heat orange juice and sugar in the microwave for about one minute. Mix until the sugar dissolves. Stir zest, juice, and extract into the chocolate mixture. Let cool in the fridge until firm ~ 2 hours. Scoop into 1” balls and roll in cocoa powder. Store in the fridge until ready to eat for up to 1 week.
