A better peanut butter cup?

A better peanut butter cup?

You don’t need a mold to start candy making. You can make these Peanut Butter Cups because they are easy! Grab a jar of peanut butter, some paper cups, chocolate chips, jam, caramel etc... and let’s make some homemade candy! Here’s how I do it.

Peanut Butter Cup Candy with Something Extra

Add melted semi-sweet chocolate to a few tiny 2” paper or foil candy cups stacked together to make them stiff enough to fill. Then, spread the chocolate thickly up the sides and leave an indentation in the middle to fill. I use a small measuring spoon to do this. Allow to cool and harden.

Next, make the peanut butter filling. Combine the following ingredients:

1/4 cup creamy peanut butter or nut butter

1/2 tablespoon butter, softened

1 1/2 tablespoons powdered sugar

pinch of salt

dash of vanilla extract

Mix together well until smooth.

Add 1/2 teaspoon peanut butter filling  to the bottom of the cooled chocolate covered tiny paper cups.

Add 1/2 teaspoon jam, salted caramel sauce, marshmallow fluff, or honey on top of the peanut butter. Be sure to leave space at the top to seal with melted chocolate!

Cover completely with melted chocolate making sure to  spread to the edges. If you have any leaks, add more chocolate to seal them. Add garnish so you know which filling is inside. Here is what I used on top so I could tell the fillings apart from each other.

PB with jelly- freeze-dried berry bits

PB and honey- peanut bits

PB and marshmallow fluff- mini marshmallows and mini chips

PB and salted caramel-salt or sugar grains
