Heating, melting and mixing of ingredients (with a bit of chilling)are the techniques you need to make this easy candy. Whip them up and share the same day you make them with no problem. Using fresh orange zest and juice give these candies a subtle orange flavor, but you can add more zest for even more orange. Any citrus will work in the recipe so no worries if you don’t have blood oranges! Enjoy these creamy and rich chocolate treats!

Dark Chocolate Blood Orange Truffles
2/3 cup cream
1 1/2 cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons blood orange zest
2 tablespoons blood orange juice
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Heat cream until hot but not boiling. Add chocolate chips and butter. Cover and let sit for about 5 minutes or until all the chocolate has melted. Stir until smooth. Heat orange juice and sugar in the microwave for about one minute. Mix until sugar dissolves. Stir zest, juice and extract into the chocolate mixture. Let cool in the fridge until firm. ~ 2 hours. Scoop into 1” balls and roll in cocoa powder. Store in the fridge until ready to eat for up to 1 week.
